ER363 Rare 1992 Canada Mint Error Off Medal Gold Proof NGC PR67,

ER363 Rare 1992 Canada Mint Error Off Medal Gold Proof NGC PR67 Ultra Cameo, cf. KM215 (for original type in silver). 1992 Canada Silver $15 - PR69 Ultra Cameo, KM215. The gold piece in this pair is an interesting and highly unusual off-metal striking, in which the dies for the original silver issue were used in tandem with a planchet for a contemporary 1 oz gold Maple Leaf. The diameter of the gold planchet (30mm) expanded during the striking process to the size of the dies (40mm), thus accounting for the slightly odd nature to the rims of this piece, as there was not quite enough metal to fill the entire area demanded by the dies. Full Gem quality, both with delightfully frosted devices and exceptionally mirrored surfaces. A wonderful modern numismatic enigma of undeniable beauty, and certain to appeal to the highest-tier collector of Canadian errors. Below is the comment from Minterrornews.com about this Mint Error gold coin in its issue 35 published on Winter 2015: "This is one of the rarest, most expensive and spectacular Canadian coins known. This special striking in gold of a proof commemorative coin was unknown to the numismatic community and was just certified and authenticated by NGC. It is the size of a U.S. Silver American Eagle and is in superb proof cameo condition. The International Olympic Committee decided to commemorate the centennial of the Olympic Games. In 1992 the Spirit of the Generations proof silver coin was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint and released in a special presentation box. These were struck with CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS on the edge. On September 15, 2003, the Royal Canadian Mint auctioned two different special gold strikings of silver commemorative coins. These were sold on eBay and made headline news in Canadasince the Royal Canadian Mint had never released special gold strikings before. CBC News and other Canadian news outlets followed the auction and reported this story in their business sections. These two gold strikings were the size of a Kennedy Half Dollar and they sold for approximately $50,000 and $75,000 (U.S. Dollars). Andy Lustig was the successful high bidder and purchased both of these gold strikings on eBay. He subsequently sold them to a serious collector of unique numismatic rarities. Andy Lustig is a well respected U.S. coin dealer and specializes in coins and patterns from the U.S. and around the world. This 1992 $15 special gold striking is more than twice the size of the two special gold strikings that sold on eBay. It was also struck without edge lettering. This proof gold special striking rivals any U.S. coin, commemorative or pattern, specially struck in gold. For comparison purposes, the U.S. Mint struck two commemorative Panama Pacific Silver Half Dollars in Gold. One recently sold in a Heritage Auction for $460,000. This amazing gold proof commemorative coin would be the centerpiece of any collection of Canadian coins or commemorative issues. I believe there are less than 10 such gold coins exist possibly even less than 5. US shipping is free. International shipping will be $168 FedEx or ask first.
